The Wednesday Recital
A Scholar of ITC Sangeet Research Academy under Pt. Partha Chatterjee and Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty, Ayan started learning to play the Sitar at the age of six. He has also learnt from Pt. Manilal Nag and then Pt. Kushal Das.
He is currently doing an M.A. in Instrumental Music from Rabindra Bharati University after obtaining a 1st class B.A (Hons) degree in Instrumental Music from the same university. Ayan has many awards and scholarships to his credit. A National Scholar under the Government of India’s CCRT scheme, he stood 1st in a competition held at the State Youth Festival in 2005. Ayan stood 2nd in the 10th National Youth Festival in Hyderabad in 2005 and 1st in the West Bengal Rajya Sangeet Academy competition in 2006.
He also stood 1st in the All India Radio Music Competition in 2007. The Dover Lane Music Competition also bestowed him with the title of the winner in 2007. Ayan stood 2nd at the Jnana Prabaha Scholarship organised by Sangeet Ashram in May 2010. He also received the National Scholarship (Senior) from the government of India the same year.
An A Grade artiste of All India Radio, Ayan has performed all over the country as well as in Dhaka. He has had the privilege of being invited to play at the National Festival ‘UNITY IN DIVERSITY’ organised by the CCRT in New Delhi., among other prestigious concert stages.
