ITC-SRA is a Government-recognised R&D institution
The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research,
Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, recognised
ITC-SRA in 1982 as a Research and Development Institution in the area of
Natural and Applied Sciences.
Donations to ITC-SRA are income tax-exempt from 1980 after it was
recognised as a scientific research association under section 35(I)(ii)
of the Income Tax Act 1961.
Scientific Advisory Board
ITC-SRA set up a Scientific Advisory Board under the
Chairmanship of (Late) Professor B.D. Nagchaudhuri,Ex-Scientific
Adviser: Ministry of Defence, Govt of India and Ex-Vice Chancellor,
Jawaharlal Nehru University, in 1982. Prof Nagchaudhuri's contribution
to build and formulate the research activities of the department was
immense.
At present, the Scientific Advisory Board constitutes eminent
scientists, Prof. (Emeritus) D. Dutta Majumder, Indian Statistical
Institute, Prof. Dipak Ghosh, Jadavpur University, Prof. Bikash Sinha,
Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Dr. Partha Ghose, Prof. Anupam Basu,
Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and Prof. D K Bhattacharya,
University of Kolkata.
The eminent and senior musician, Smt. Dipali Nag, was associated with
the ITC-SRA's Scientific Research Department as an Advisor and was the
Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board till her death. During her
tenure she made significant contributions towards establishing and
running the department.
Collaborative Research Work
The Scientific Research Department has initiated
collaborative research with the Electronics and Communication Science
Unit and Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Unit of the Indian
Statistical Institute in Kolkata in the area of Speech and Music. The
Research Department has academic exchanges with Jadavpur University,
Kolkata.
