Young Nilanjana’s song lends colour

A three-day music conference jointly organised by the Dept. of Culture, Chhatisgarh Government and ITC Sangeet Research Academy was held at the Raipur Medical College Conference Hall. The conference opened on 10 December with a khayal in Puriya raga, followed by a piece on Hamir raga by young Nilanjana Roy. The deft presentation on Hamir raga established her identity as a capable scholar of music and lent colour to the conference. It was a memorable presentation.

The star artist Ajoy Chakrabarty (of ITC SRA), who presented his recitals in Raipur in the past, presented an enjoyable recital in Abhogi raga.

A.G. Bandopadhyay and Gopal Mishra on tabla, and Jyoti Goho and Gourab Chatterjee on harmonium provided accompaniments.

Purnima Chaudhuri’s vocal and Arvind parekh’s sitar recitals were much prasied.

Lastly, listening to Amit Mukerjee’s presentation at the lecture-demonstration was a pleasant experience.

Pt. Chakrabarti’s ragdari mesmerises the listeners

A three-day music conference jointly organised by the Dept of Culture, Chhatisgarh Government and the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Calcutta was held at Raipur Medical College Conference Hall. The conference featured.

The reputed vocal artist Ajoy Chakrabarti’s (of ITC SRA) presentation. The bandishes sung by him, especially his tuneful voice, enthralled the listeners. Gopal Mishra on tabla, Jyoti Goho on Harmonium, and Anal Chatterjee and Prashant Palkar on Tanpura accompaniment him.

The conference opened with young Nilanjana Roy’s (of ITC SRA) presentation of vocal classical song in Puriya raga Nilanjana was groomed in her childhood by her mother. She is now being coached by Ulhas Kashalkar (of ITC SRA). Her next presentation was a geet [Main mil ayi apne piya se], which was roundly applauded. A. G. Bandopadhyay on Tabla, Gourab Chatterjee on Harmonium, and Sajal and Sraddha Tank on Tanpura accompanied Nilanjana.

An unending steam of octaves

A three-day programme of the Dept of Culture, Chhatisgarh government, at the Medical College Conference Hall, featured Miss Nilanjana Roy, a promising scholar of the ITC SRA. Her opening gambit was a mesmerising vocal recital of Sringar, followed by a no less captivating recital of Tarana of which the drut portion was much appreciated.

The star artist, of course, was Mr Ajoy Chakrabarty, the renowned vocalist of ITC SRA. He presented a recital of raga Abhogi. It was a full-scope recital, and it was roundly applauded.

The Secy-Culture, Govt of Chhatisgarh, Vice Chancellor – Khairagarh University and many other dignitaries graced the occasion.
